"High Stress" Water Pressure

If you were to look at Flagstaff from a hot air balloon you would see just how many hills there are around town. Putting a house on the top of a hill does not stop the water department from bringing water to your neighborhood, but it does have a side effect for everyone else...high water pressure. You might think that high water pressure is a good thing, but it can cause a lot of problems. Like running out of hot water too fast, leaking faucets, running toilets, water splashing on the bathroom mirror when you turn on the faucet and even water pipes that just exploded at the worst time. It is easy to check water pressure yourself. You can buy a test gauge similar to mine at the hardware store

Waiting for Hot Water.

Flagstaff has been officially running programs to help the city save water for almost 20 years. Just in case you were unaware you are to only water your yard during certain days of the week and at certain times. More info at www.flagstaff.az.gov. One of the latest things that you can do to save water is a self learning instant hot water system. This system learns when you use hot water, remembers it and then makes sure you never have to wait for it. It is a great solution for people who have predictable schedules. Something to keep in mind next time you turn on the shower and count to 60 before you get in.

Replace something old...with something gold.

I got to visit a home the other day that needed a little plumbing attention. No surprise there, right? The homeowner wanted to move into this century and get away from the old style of shower control with inconsistent and difficult to adjust temperature. To make things a little more challenging working from the opposite side of the wall was not an option. Things just never seam to be easy with old homes. No problem. This upgraded shower temperature was a great solution. Covers up the work in wall nicely, is 100% water tight and no more crazy temperature swings when using the shower. An old home with modern ammenties.
